Bob Pargament

The Westchester Hypnosis and Relaxation Center | Weight Loss, Quit Smoking and Stress Reduction

I believe in the fundamental goodness of people. As individuals, we are usually born pristine with our emotional “factory settings” in balance. As sensitive and reactive creatures, we can find that natural emotional balance altered, as we respond either consciously or unconsciously to our experiences. I also believe that we’re all trying to do the best that we can with what we feel we have at our disposal. Sometimes unconscious feelings limit us, and that’s where hypnosis can work its magic. It enables us to break through those inner limiting beliefs and habits and achieve our goals much more easily. Hypnosis can reset us into a state of equilibrium.

I believe in leaving my ego at the door when I begin my work with a client. I do not sit in judgment. My goal is to listen and connect and to offer the most effective solution to help in your life.

When I begin with a client, I do an intake form to get a snapshot of what his or her likes and dislikes are, what motivates them and what their goals, interests and dreams are. So as I’m the one usually asking those questions I thought I’d give you a “snapshot of Bob” so you get a sense of how I would fill out an intake form on myself.

Birthday: October 23, 1952.
Birthplace: Born in Manhattan then moved to Long Island. I’ve lived in Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia, then came back to Manhattan for 20 years. Now I’m just north of the city.
Favorite colors: Green, tan and white.

Career:

A good part of my adult career was in the television business as a producer and distributor of programming. I had been involved in self-hypnosis and meditation during that time and later realized that I was very good at coaching, and particularly well suited for hypnotizing people. The skill set is a combination of empathy, intuition, knowing how to apply lessons learned from my own life experience, voice and creativity.

Creativity is a wonderful part of the process, as I paint empowering mental hypnotic images for my clients which translate afterwards into positive action. I do a good deal of public speaking about hypnosis and have spoken before large groups of NYU pediatric psychiatrists, The Scarsdale Medical Group on the subject of Hypnosis for Weight Loss, The American Dental Association, Pepsi World Headquarters, Morgan Stanley and others.

Lifetime goals:

To help as many people as I can with this amazing modality. I want hypnosis to be better understood, so that people will think of it as the place to go as first resort. I want people to know that entertainment hypnosis is a very small aspect of this modality.

Hobbies and interests:

  • Music: Jazz lover but also genres running the gamut from 60′s and 70′s classic rock to Sinatra, Gershwin and Porter and even the occasional Beethoven or Bach. I play guitar, (but need to practice more- I’m rusty).
  • World and national events: I keep on top of them and I like to discuss these things.
  • Crossword puzzles: the harder the better. (I’m not saying I get all of the answers, but if I can’t get one, I don’t let go until I figure it out).
  • Sports: I like almost all, except professional wrestling – never got that. Straight Pool, (OK, not a “sport” but I play as often as I can) it’s a chess-like game that makes one think and look. I know my way around a pool table. I have hypnotized many people for better performance at many different sports. I exercise 3 or 4 times a week.
  • Art: I really enjoy The Museum of Modern Art and galleries. I can sketch reasonably well.
  • Science: I love this era in which we live. I feel that we are now living in the “future” (technologically speaking), that I envisioned as the kid I was growing up in the 50′s. No rocket packs yet, but I have a $5.00 deposit ready to be put down when it comes to market.
  • Coaching: I’ve taken some terrific life coaching courses which I use every day in my work.
  • History: I really love early American history.
  • Things I need to work on: Paperwork.
